Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) plans to host an internal question-and-answer session with employees who were concerned about the appointment of Elon Musk to the company's board of directors, the Washington Post reports.

The move comes after an internal outcry among Twitter staff who voiced their concerns that Musk could negatively impact the social media company's culture and make working at Twitter more difficult.

We say that Twitter is what's happening and what people are talking about right now. Often, we [at] Twitter are what's happening and what people are talking about. That has certainly been the case this week, Agrawal said in a company-wide email sent on Thursday.

Following our board announcement, many of you have had different types of questions about Elon Musk, and I want to welcome you to ask those questions to him.

Musk joined Twitter's board after acquiring an activist stake of more than 9% in the company. Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO said he is looking forward to making significant improvements to Twitter in the future.

Musk has been an active Twitter user over the recent years and currently has more than 80 million followers. He recently asked Twitter users whether they would like to see an edit button on the social network, which would allow them to amend their posts. A few days ago, Twitter confirmed that the edit feature is already in development.

In the internal messages between Twitter staff, the employees have reportedly said that Musk's values are contradictory to the ones of Twitter.

Quick question: If an employee tweeted some of the things Elon tweets, they'd likely be the subject of an HR investigation, said one of Twitter employees on the company's Slack channel.

Are board members held to the same standard?
